Toby Keith

Remember the [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Dixie Chicks [/lastfm]’ and their feud with [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Toby Kieth[/lastfm]? For that matter, remember The Dixie Chicks?

The Chicks and Toby were going at it again.

Dixie Chicks and [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Court Yard Hounds[/lastfm] singer Emily Robison implied during a live web-chat on Tuesday, January 18th, that Toby stole the idea for his single “Bullets in the Gun” from a singer named Robert Earl Keen. She implied that Keen’s song “The Road Goes On Forever” was the basis for Toby’s “Bullets”.

Emily challenged here fans during the Curt Yard Hounds web-chat:

[pullquote quote=””]”I’m going to send y’all on a mission, go listen to a song by Robert Earl Keen called ‘The Road Goes on Forever,’ and then listen to Toby Keith’s new single and you write back and tell us what you think. It’s up to you to do the compare-contrast.”

Well… Take a listen and judge for yourself…

I’m a big Robert Earl Keen fan, and when I first heard Toby’s Bullets I thought that they sounded similar. Jumping to the conclusion that Toby stole the song from Keen, though, is a bit much. Maybe he was just inspired by it. Whatever the case, they’re both great songs!

This is just a poor excuse of an effort for the “Ditzy Witches” (I’d spell it with a “B”, but they don’t deserve that much effort), to get publicity. It is just very sad.
They made a mistake, were called on it and don’t want pay the price. How immature. They also seem to be displaying a jeolous obsession toward Toby, because he is seemingly their focal point of their public attention.
Toby tried to publically end things and take the high road, but it seems this washed up group wants to pull Toby into the muck with them. They should be careful. If you pull on a “Big Dogs” tail long enough and hard enough you will get bit.
Grow up and move on with your live.
