CMT Crossroads announced four new power-packed episodes that feature some of the biggest names in country music at the moment.
Cheap Trick and Jennifer Nettles; Jason Derulo and Luke Bryan; Rob Thomas and Charles Kelley; and Nick Jonas and Thomas Rhett will all appear on upcoming episodes, according to the show’s press release.
The long-running show typically pairs a country artist with a pop, rock or hip-hop artist, so they can perform each other’s songs and duet in ways that reimagine genre-structured music. Derulo and Bryan’s episode promises to blend their distinct styles into a unique force, while Thomas and Kelley’s pairing focuses on their transition from being members in a band to solo artists, and major male artists Jonas and Rhett re-interpret each other’s music.
Although they haven’t performed together before, Bryan and Derulo have, oddly enough, shared a duet in the past. In August 2015, Bryan posted a video to Facebook, singing along with a pre-recorded Derulo on a karaoke app. Hopefully the live version will be even better.
Cheap Trick and Jennifer Nettles’ episode premieres first on March 24th at 11pm ET. Nettles is currently headlining the CMT Next Women of Country Tour along with Brandy Clark.
