Triple—or is it quadruple—threat (we’re losing count), Jennifer Nettles is a country music superstar, film actor, Broadway musical lead, songwriter and more. And now the Sugarland singer is preparing to drop her first solo album: Playing With Fire will be out on Big Machine Records on May 13th. “I am so proud of this record,” Nettles said in a release. “I can’t wait to share it with my fans and hear their reactions. It is a ton of sass and emotion and fun.”

Playing With Fire was produced by Dann Huff (Keith Urban) and includes songwriting collaborations with Brandy Clark, Shane McAnally, Jessie Jo Dillon and Lori McKenna.

Nettles has performed with such iconic figures as Beyoncé, Bon Jovi, Idina Menzel, John Legend, Katy Perry, Lady Gaga, Rihanna, and more. She made her Broadway debut as Roxy Hart in the Tony Award Winning, record-breaking musical Chicago and joined the cast of the Dolly Parton television biopic, Coat of Many Colors.

The petite powerhouse with the big personality, spirit, heart and voice has won five ASCAP awards for songwriting and received a GRAMMY Award and an ACM Award for the #1 hit, “Stay.” At the 2009 ACM Awards, she was honored with the “Crystal Milestone Award” for being the first solo female songwriter on an ACM “Song of the Year” winner since 1972. As the lead vocalist for country duo Sugarland, she earned eight #1 singles, over 22 million in worldwide record sales. And now she looks like she’s on the way to carving out a successful solo career as well.
