Even the Grinch's heart will melt over this story. In the United Kingdom, an 89-year-old woman combined her love of knitting and animals together to make 450 blankets and sweaters for animals in shelters.

Maisie Green said she does it to provide extra comfort to the animals. The volunteer said it takes her three days to knit a blanket/one day to make a sweater and that her family drives her to the shelter three times a year to drop off her donations.

The shelter, Dogs Trust, in Essex recognized Maisie for all of her very generation donations.

The Dogs Trust shelter has 20 located and cares for around 16,000 dogs across the United Kingdom and Ireland, so they appreciate all of the donations that Maisie has made over the years.

According to Maisie, “It keeps me busy and often I like to knit whilst watching television. I’m delighted to be helping the four-legged residents at the centre in some way.”

If we all could take a page out of Maisie's book, the world would be a much better place.
