Thanksgiving travel will reach its highest level in 13 years

If you’re heading over the river and through the woods to grandmother’s house for Thanksgiving this year, expect a lot of company on the roads.

AAA estimates 2018 Thanksgiving travel will reach its highest level in 13 years with 54.3 million Americans to travel 50 miles or more over the holiday weekend.

 Pennsylvania is no exception with, 1.7 million people to hit the roads.

Gas prices are up over 7 cents from last year that isn’t stopping a record number of people from traveling with a strong economy to thank.

All forms of travel will be up about 5 percent so the airports will also be busy Thanksgiving weekend.

AAA says that the Tuesday and Wednesday are the busiest and most expensive days to fly with Thanksgiving being the best with less people traveling and lower ticket prices.

Best times to drive, Thanksgiving Day, Friday or Saturday.

The worst travel day after Thanksgiving is Sunday.

 Nationwide, car rental rates are down ten percent, hotel room rates up six percent.
