90 Percent Of Independent Music Venues Could Shut Down

PITTSBURGH (Newsradio 1020 KDKA) - Pittsburgh Mayor William Peduto has asked Congress to support three bills that would offer relief to independent art venues in danger of permanent closures due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Some of these venues include Carnegie of Homestead Music, Mr. Smalls Theatre, Drusky Entertainment, The Rex Theater and Jergels Pittsburgh’s live entertainment industry attracts tourists from near and far and employs thousands of individuals, making this industry to vitalize the economy.

Since the pandemic has shut down live events, it is estimated that 90 percent of independent venues nationwide could close permanently.
