PPS Superintendent Recommends Postponing Fall Sports

PITTSBURGH (Newsradio 1020 KDKA) - After Governor Tom Wolf’s administration recommended postponing high school sports until January 1 on Thursday, the PIAA Board of Directors will meet on Friday to make its decision moving forward.

While the WPIAL says they don’t understand why fall sports need to be delayed and that a postponement will make things more confusing for student-athletes in the winter and spring, Pittsburgh Public Schools’ Superintendent Dr. Anthony Hamlet is asking his school board to postpone fall sports.

In a statement, Hamlet said it “is the best decision, but we understand that this is disappointing news for some of our students and staff.”

The school board will vote on the recommendation on August 26.
